This main event contains six events which are listed below:

gev080 Sending Out the Twelve: The mission of the disciples reflects the compassion, authority, and kingdom purposes of Jesus. They are called to trust in God’s provision, embrace the challenges of discipleship, and live simply and boldly as they proclaim the kingdom of God. Faithful service, even in the face of rejection, is rewarded by God, and those who show hospitality to his messengers participate in his mission. These passages challenge believers to embody humility, dependence on God, and steadfastness in proclaiming and living out the gospel.

gev081 Herod Confuses Jesus with John the Baptist: The message of this event is that Jesus’ identity and mission provoke curiosity, confusion, and fear, especially among those who feel threatened by him or carry guilt for their actions. Herod’s reaction reflects how unresolved sin and fear of judgment can cloud one’s understanding of Jesus. These verses invite readers to move beyond speculation and fear to seek the truth about who Jesus is, recognizing His authority and significance in their lives.

gev082 Feeding the 5,000+ – Bethsaida, North side Sea of Galilee, East of Jordan River: This event contains the story of Jesus feeding the five thousand demonstrates his compassion, divine power, and ability to provide abundantly for both physical and spiritual needs. It teaches believers to trust in God’s provision, offer their resources in faith, and participate in his work. The miracle also foreshadows Jesus as the Bread of Life, offering eternal sustenance to those who believe in him. Finally, it emphasizes the importance of balancing service with time for prayer and communion with God.

gev083 Walking on Water – Sea of Galilee: This event contains the story of Jesus walking on water which teaches that Jesus is Lord over all creation and that his presence brings peace in the midst of fear and challenges. It calls believers to have faith, keep their focus on him, and trust in his power to save and sustain them. The event highlights Jesus’ identity as the Son of God and encourages worship and deeper faith in response to his authority and care. It also reminds us that, even in moments of doubt or struggle, Jesus is always ready to extend his hand and bring us safely through life’s storms.

gev084 Bread of Life – Capernaum, Gennesaret – NW side Sea of Galilee: This event teaches that Jesus is the compassionate provider of both physical and spiritual needs, but He ultimately calls people to seek Him as the source of eternal life. His identity as the Bread of Life highlights the necessity of faith and a deep, personal relationship with Him for eternal fulfillment. Believers are challenged to look beyond temporary needs and fully trust in Jesus for their spiritual nourishment and salvation.

gev085 Many Followers Depart, But Not Peter – Capernaum: This event emphasizes the cost of discipleship and the necessity of faith in Jesus, especially when his teachings challenge human understanding. While some reject him, true disciples recognize him as the only source of eternal life and remain committed to him. This passage calls believers to rely on the Holy Spirit for spiritual understanding and to persevere in faith, trusting Jesus even in the face of doubt or difficulty. It also serves as a warning against superficial belief, highlighting the need for genuine commitment to Christ.
