The God Who Reigns, Helps, Heals, and Strengthens His People

This unified title reflects the beautiful upward movement across Psalms 145–147:

Psalm 145 — God reigns, His greatness unsearchable, His compassion near to all who call on Him.
Psalm 146 — God helps, defending the oppressed, freeing the captive, and sustaining the righteous.
Psalm 147 — God heals, gathering the brokenhearted, restoring His people, and strengthening them with His power and peace.

Together they form a single arc: The Lord is exalted in majesty, faithful in care, tender in healing, and mighty in strength.

Psalm 145 – The Greatness and Goodness of the LORD

Overview

Psalm 145 is David’s final psalm and is a magnificent hymn of praise celebrating the greatness, goodness, and everlasting kingdom of God. David declares that God’s greatness is beyond human understanding, yet His compassion reaches every generation. The psalm emphasizes that the Lord faithfully sustains His creation, provides for every living thing, hears the cries of those who call upon Him, and rules with righteousness and mercy. It invites every generation to proclaim God’s mighty works so that His glory will never be forgotten. The psalm concludes by calling all people to praise the Lord forever.

Answer:
David understands that God’s greatness cannot be fully measured or comprehended. Every new generation must hear of God’s mighty works so that faith continues. Worship is not merely personal gratitude but the public proclamation of God’s character and deeds. As believers remember God’s greatness, they grow in confidence and trust.

2. What does this psalm teach about God’s care for His creation?

Answer:
God provides food, opens His hand to satisfy every living thing, upholds those who fall, and raises those who are bowed down. His care extends to all creation, demonstrating that He is both Creator and Sustainer. Believers can therefore trust Him with both spiritual and physical needs.
