Old Testament Reading
2 Samuel 22:1–23:23 — David’s Song of Deliverance and His Mighty Men
Overview:
As David reflected on God’s faithfulness throughout his life, he praised the Lord as his rock, fortress, shield, and deliverer. He recounted how God rescued him from his enemies, strengthened him for battle, and established his kingdom. David testified that God rewards righteousness and faithfully saves those who trust Him. The passage continues with David’s final words, expressing confidence in God’s everlasting covenant and righteous rule. It concludes by honoring David’s mighty men, whose courage and loyalty helped establish the kingdom God had promised.

Answer:
David’s confidence rested not in his own achievements but in God’s everlasting covenant. He trusted that God would fulfill His promises and establish a righteous kingdom according to His word. - Why are David’s mighty men included in this passage?
Answer:
Their accounts demonstrate the value of faithful service and courage. God often accomplishes His purposes through devoted individuals who serve with loyalty and sacrifice.
New Testament Reading
Acts 2:1–47 — The Coming of the Holy Spirit and the Birth of the Church
Overview:
On the Day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples with the sound of a mighty wind and tongues of fire resting on each believer. Filled with the Spirit, they proclaimed God’s works in languages understood by people from many nations gathered in Jerusalem. Peter explained that this fulfilled prophecy and boldly preached Jesus’ death, resurrection, and exaltation. Convicted by the message, about three thousand people repented and were baptized. The newly formed church devoted itself to the apostles’ teaching, fellowship, prayer, and worship, experiencing unity and continual growth.

Answer:

Answer:
Peter proclaimed that Jesus, who had been crucified, was raised from the dead and exalted by God as Lord and Christ. He called the people to repentance and faith in Him. - What characterized the early church?
Answer:
The believers were devoted to biblical teaching, fellowship, prayer, worship, generosity, and unity. Their transformed lives provided a powerful testimony to the world around them.
Psalms Reading
Psalm 122:1–9 — Rejoicing in the House of the Lord
Overview:
David expresses joy at the opportunity to worship in Jerusalem, the city God established as the center of Israel’s worship. He celebrates the unity of God’s people gathering together before the Lord and calls for prayer for the peace and prosperity of Jerusalem. The psalm highlights the blessings that flow from seeking God’s presence and pursuing peace among His people.

Answer:

Answer:
Jerusalem was the center of worship and national life for God’s people. Its peace contributed to the well-being and unity of the entire nation. - How can believers apply this psalm today?
Answer:
Christians should value corporate worship, pursue unity within the church, and pray for the peace and spiritual health of God’s people.
Proverbs Reading
Proverbs 16:19–20 — Humility and Trust in the Lord
Overview:
These proverbs teach that humility is far better than sharing in the gains of the proud and wicked. True wisdom comes from carefully considering God’s instruction and trusting in Him. Those who rely upon the Lord discover blessing, stability, and genuine success that cannot be obtained through pride or selfish ambition.

Proverbs 16:20 – “Whoever gives thought to the word will discover good, and blessed is he who trusts in the LORD.”

Answer:
Pride may produce temporary gain, but it ultimately leads to downfall. Humility places a person in a position to receive God’s favor and guidance. - What does it mean to give thought to God’s Word?
Answer:
It means carefully listening to, meditating on, and applying God’s truth in daily life. Wisdom grows when God’s Word shapes our decisions. - How are trust and blessing connected?
Answer:
Those who trust the Lord depend on His wisdom rather than their own understanding. God blesses such faith with spiritual stability, guidance, and peace.
